Coder Enterprise allows you to group users, environments, and images under an umbrella called organizations. All images and environments must belong to an organization and can only be accessed by a user when they select that organization.
The Default Organization
The default organization is generated on the platform's initial startup to assign users and users' environments to it. A default organization must exist at all times, but the specific organization that is set as the default can be changed once there are two (or more organizations).
Environment Shutdown Behavior
Each organization has a setting called Environment Shutdown Behavior, which sets the maximum amount of time that an environment may sit idle before Coder stops it to free up cluster resources. Anyone with admin rights can modify this setting and change the value from Never (indicating that environments will not be shut down) to a maximum of one week.
Environment Shutdown Behavior affects the lifetime of idle environments for all users of an organization. See Environments for information regarding the implications of stopping an environment.
